Arnold Schwarzenegger, 65, is speculated to have had chin and cheek implants, a facelift, neck lift, botox injections and more recently liposuction!
Sometimes, even the manliest of men can’t quite face getting older. Today, with so many plastic surgery procedures open to men, and the level of social acceptability increasing every day, there’s no reason a man can’t pump his face full of Botox just to feel good about himself, the way that any woman can! Maybe these liberal attitudes are part of why former California Gover-nator, and ex-movie star and action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger has decided to go under the knife.
This former bodybuilder, action hero, politician, and actor has certainly been through a lot in his life. As a person ages, all these incredible, but stressful, life experiences can start to show on the face. Perhaps his recent divorce was another motivation for wanting to get back out there looking his best. Whatever his reasons, Arnold has had more than one plastic surgery, including a facelift, Botox injections, and facial filler injections.
While Arnold has not gone the route of obliterating every tiny line on his forehead until he looks like an overstuffed plastic Terminator doll, which is good, he definitely has been left with the ‘I’ve had plastic surgery’ look. His facelift was likely done very subtly so as not to pull the skin too tight. This is a positive thing.
His Botox injections, which are almost always used along with a facelift these days, have been put into his forehead, cheeks, and near his mouth. They have helped to smooth out his skin, but left him with the Botox ‘sheen’ that makes a person’s skin look waxy.
As for the facial filler injections, it’s possible that he actually has used a product like Juvederm or Restylane, and not just Botox, in his cheeks to make them look more plump, prominent, and youthful.
On the other hand, Arnold has always denied the plastic surgery rumors...
When he was asked in 2003 about his jawline, Arnold replied: "You are confusing me with Cher."
On August 2012, in an interview reported by USA Today, Arnold claimed he's never had any plastic procedures like "Botox. Or any surgery." "So this is the real thing," Schwarzenegger added, pointing to his face.
There are many celebrity watchers and plastic surgeons though who hugely doubt as there are significant differences in Arnold's face, claiming that he didn't overdo botox or facelift, but it's very clear that he had the procedures. Arnold has some superficial to moderate lines on his forehead which suggests he went for a fairly conservative approach to plastic surgery.
It has to be noted that plastic surgeons don't seem to agree with each other as some believe that Arnold is 100% natural and the rest of them insist he has gone under the knife many times during the years.
On his blog, plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn stated that Schwarzenegger is telling the truth: "Actually, I see quite a few lines on his face! He does look like he has aged quite a bit, especially after the stress of the scandal involving his former maid."
Plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Ellenbogen explained: "Arnold Schwarzenegger is a 65 year old man. Now, honestly do 65 year old men look as good as him? He's juiced with steroids and has had two heart operations. We hate to out manly men like Arnold, but his face is tight, his skin is not wrinkled, his jawline is anything but saggy. Duh! If it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it is a facelift, chin adjustment, necklift and probably a laundry list of injectables and other procedures…he looks great. Congrats to his plastic surgeon."
Dr. Darrick Antell, a Manhattan plastic surgeon who revealed patients have asked him for a Schwarzenegger-style chin, claimed he thinks Arnold is all natural. "If you have good underlying bone structure (like Schwarzenegger), you will age more gracefully. If you don't have a good foundation, the soft tissue can slide off more easily," he was quoted as saying.
Dr. Malcolm Lesavoy, a plastic surgeon in Encino, Calif., concurs with Antell. "He's got good genes, and he's taken care of himself," he stated. "If you look at pictures from when he was younger and now, I don't think there's any difference." Giveaways of surgical rejuvenation include "scars that come down in front of the ear, behind the earlobe and into the hairline." But he says Schwarzenegger's short hair and sideburns dare you to look for scars - and Lesavoy doesn't see any.
Dr. Gerald Imber, a Manhattan plastic surgeon, sees more evidence Arnold hasn't had anything done. "Under his chin he has two platysma bands that (are) typical of men in their 50s. (That) speaks for not having anything done to his neck."
Dr. Daniel Yamini, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, says it's good genioplasty, not good genes, that is responsible for Schwarzenegger's age-defying look. "He's probably had something done to reduce the prominence of his chin. It's a genioplasty. They can actually reduce the bone by cutting it or sanding it," he revealed.
He estimates Schwarzenegger has had a full facelift, as well as an upper and lower "blepharoplasty" (or eyelift) and a "canthoplasty" - a surgery to the corner of the eyelid. He rates Arnold's unknown (or possibly nonexistent) surgeon very high because the doctor avoided the dreaded girly eye syndrome. "It's hard to maintain masculinity," he says of eye surgery on men. Often, he says, the canthoplasty will feminize the eye by moving the corner too high.
Yamini suggests that plastic surgery gave Arnold an unfair electoral advantage. "If Gray Davis had done some good cosmetic surgery, he would have appealed to more people."
Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and a rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, California was quoted as saying: "Arnold and Maria are aging nicely, and I do not see the possibility of any major work having been done. Maria may have had some Botox in her forehead, but overall her look is natural. She may benefit from fillers around her face to even out some of her natural lines. Arnold may have had a bit of Botox in the forehead as well, but that is about it. Speculations that he had the appearance of his chin altered through genioplasty are very unlikely. Arnold has a strong profile, and his genetics are responsible for his facial features looking strong at his age."
Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr Jennifer Walden explained: "Maria is blessed with great genes and beautiful bone structure. I feel she has always maintained a fairly natural, conservative look. It is possible Ms. Shriver has had injectables to keep her face free of wrinkles. There have been many rumors that Arnold went under the knife for a chin implant and possible face lift, but it appears that as he let up on the weight training and body building most of his "bulk" in his neck and face dissipated. I think it is a combination of slimming down and aging that contributes to his face changing over the years. I wouldn’t be surprised however if he did use Botox as well as other injectables."
